B&G is a company whose work might be hard to grasp. For those who learn thorugh stories, here is ours. We hope you enjoy!
Blaine & González was formed in order to tackle large problems that affect everyone equally across the world.
Originally conceived of as "Approaching Infinity", by President and Founder Justin Pickering, B&G was dreamed up under that name on Canal Street in New Orleans in 2008. At the time, Mr. Pickering was a Pit Boss for Harrah's Casino.
One night, heading to a bar with some colleagues for a nightcap, an idea popped into his head while walking buy the buildings scarred with water lines from the floods, impossible-to-clean algae, and the general devastation and depression that Hurricane Katrina left in its wake. Much of this damage left behind that has still not been cured or healed in any way to this day.
Shocked, Mr. Pickering thought was "Where are the dump trucks? The garbage removal? The water purification? There are so many missing pieces! Why can't there be a company that just helps everyone clean up everything?"
Blaine & González was a vision 22 years in the making and our values reflect Justin's life experience. Over the course of his life, he earned scholarships to Tulane University, University of Texas at Austin and Vanderbilt University. traveling to 14 countries, learning 2 languages and 2 musical instruments, working in television, gaming, cyber security, sales and marketing, as a public school teacher and sometimes Sam's Club worker for $9/hour when lost between ventures.
What is compelling about Mr. Pickering's story is that he truly never gave up.
He truly never surrendered. And, more importantly the important transformation he underwent, bringing him to the threshold of a new future, while firmly planting his feet back in the place he loves most: the state of Massachusetts, where this very odd, very unlikely thing began.
